Reflecting on her albums, she mentioned that she didn’t intentionally plan to create a sequel to her past work when she released ‘Then’. However, she shared that it felt like destiny and that both albums were dedicated to her spouse, Ben Affleck.
Recalling the moment, she mused, “There are occasions in life when you just feel, ‘This was meant to happen somehow’. At the time I didn’t realize that when I decided to name it This Is Me… Then.” The album captured a period in her life when she fell in love deeply for the first time, she revealed.
She elaborated, “It truly encapsulated that moment, and I thought, ‘I’ll name it This Is Me… Then.’ And now, 20 years later, fate brought us here,” hinting at her rekindled romance with Affleck. She shared that she felt compelled to create her recent record, marking her ninth studio album and first solo release in a decade, as she was once again inspired just like before.
Lopez also mentioned that when she created her album This Is Me… Then in 2002, she had no idea that she would be working on another album more than ten years later.
