I truly have a deep admiration for all cats, as I believe they are all stunning in their own unique way. But my heart particularly melts for special needs cats. These resilient felines possess a remarkable resilience and seem completely unaware of any limitations they may have. Their strength and bravery in the face of adversity never fails to inspire me. Take Scar, for example – a striking cat with a distinctive pirate-like appearance. To me, this only enhances his beauty. As you get to know him, you’ll realize that his inner beauty shines just as brightly as his outer appearance. Thanks to plenty of love and care, Scar has transformed from a frail, undernourished kitten into a gorgeous, fluffy showstopper. All it took was someone who was willing to take a chance on him when no one else would.
How did Scar become part of your life?
On November 28, 2020, I stumbled upon Scar, a kitten born on September 15, 2020, on Croatia’s popular classifieds site, “njuskalo.” Despite his sweet face, Scar had undergone surgery on his right eye due to a severe infection, which may have deterred other potential adopters. Fortunately, I was the first to respond to the ad and discovered that Scar was located 100km away in Rijeka. Without hesitation, I made the journey to meet him.
During our first encounter, Scar was timid and sought refuge behind his carrier. But with a little coaxing, he eventually warmed up to me, snuggling into my arms as I petted him gently. It was clear from that moment that we were meant to be together. When we arrived home, Scar was understandably frightened and took a few weeks to acclimate, primarily staying in my bedroom.
What is Scar’s personality like?
Scar is a timid yet affectionate soul, a big baby at heart who dislikes baths and is wary of new people and loud noises. He is fiercely loyal to his owners and adores back scratches (never belly rubs). Despite his stubborn streak, he is remarkably intelligent, playful, and can be a bit of a troublemaker at times. Scar has a knack for manipulation but also possesses a deep sense of empathy and a quirky sense of humor.
What are Scar’s favorite pastimes?
Scar’s hobbies include basking in the sun, hunting for lizards, birds, snakes, or grasshoppers, sipping rainwater, nuzzling your face while you sleep, meowing at dawn to rouse you from slumber, lounging under a sun lounger, relaxing on cool tiles, climbing olive trees, playing with his favorite toy (an olive branch), vying for treats, and taking leisurely strolls with his owners.
Does Scar share his home with other pets?
Yes, Scar has three feline companions and one canine friend to keep him company at home.
What’s something unique about Scar that I’d like to share with others? Well, to start off, he has a special ability that sets him apart. Whenever I think of him, he magically appears beside me as if he can read my thoughts. He’s a smart cat who responds to commands like “high five”, “turn”, and “sit” in exchange for his favorite treats. Scar adores his cozy blanket, where he often lounges and enters a dreamy state: he flops onto his side and pretends to lose his balance, kneads the blanket with his paws, purrs contentedly, gives you a disgruntled look if you stop petting him, and in the colder months, he burrows under the blanket for extra warmth.
